Saturday March 28th $40 includes matierials All levels of artists can enjoy and learn from this workshop with experienced teacher and artist Mary Lamboley. All can enter the workshop at their own skill level, and will be encouraged to expand upon and/or explore a variety of techniques that will facilitate expression and the making of works during this day. The special characteristics of a sketchbook are our point of departure: It is a book: it is portable; it fits in a bag/is smaller than a breadbox; it is a companion; it can be filled with personal ideas, thoughts, and images; it can be filled with non-personal ideas, thoughts and images; it can be a place to register daily activities or record momentary occurrences; one is not precious with it, yet it is singular, one can be direct and sincere; one can be highly inventive; it can be verbal or pictorial, a collage; to look at it you have to hold it; it is one page at a time; it can pay homage; it can be a compilation of a variety of things or a collection of similar sorts... it moves with you; or moves you; or moves you to move; it allows you to be still as you mark the passage. Students will learn a tradtional book binding technique to make a personalized sketchbook. Additionally, This workshop will feature demonstrations and instruction of drawing from observation. Subjects may include the figure, still life and landscape. RSVP www.studyabroaditaly.com/viva viva@studyabroaditaly.com 707-824-9065 |
